Maria Rivera Yip grew up in Chinatown when her parents ran a cleaners on Franklin Street. She recalls playing in the back alleys of Franklin Street with her brother as well as the many other local Filipino businesses such as barber shops, pool halls, and restaurants during the 1940's and 50's .
